5 Signs You Have a Termite Problem https://mockup-wp.com/wp1/5-signs-you-have-a-termite-problem/ Tue, 28 May 2019 18:11:45 +0000 https://mockup-wp.com/wp1/?p=798 Learn More]]> Termites can exist in your home for long periods before you know you have a problem. Termite damage costs billions of dollars annually in the United States, because people don’t know before it’s too late. Keeping your home protected, and knowing the warning signs will help to save you money. Here are several signs that you might have a termite problem:

Tight Doors and Hard to Open Windows. One signs of termites is a common issue in humid areas like Orlando. If your doors are tight and windows are hard to open it could be a sign of humidity, or termites. Moisture produced by termites that are eating around your doors and windows will help to make it harder for them to open or close.

Termite Wings. While you’re checking out your windows, look for discarded wings. Termites will shed their wings around window sills and other access points (doors, mailbox, etc). Termites will leave their nesting area as a swarm and descend on their food source, so you won’t find just one pair of wings. They’ll all be the same size too (while other insects like ants have different size wings)

Wood Flooring Blisters. Have wood floors? If that beautiful shine is started to blister you might have termites. The floor will look worn, as if you have mold underneath or signs of water damage.

Galleries in Wood or Drywall. Termites like to operate in tunnels, called galleries. They’re near impossible to see from the outside, however if you have a section broken or open you can take a look for them. You can also find them in furniture made of wood. Many experts will be able to use technology to check when there are no openings. Termites also like to keep their galleries clean for feeding, meaning you’re also likely to see droppings around the areas of the tunnels.

Tubes of Mud. These pencil-sized tubes start where the ground meets your house. Mud tubes are a sign of subterranean termites, who like to “eat up” to their food source. It could be your house, or it could be an external garage, deck, or shed.
